Qingshipo Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Eastern Qinghai-SE Gansu border region. The Qingshipo Fm was named by the Team of Regional Geological Survey, Qinghai Province. Comprehensive Party of Geology, Northwest Bureau of Geology, Ministry of Geology in 1964. The type section is in Dongchagou, Huangzhong County, Qinghai Province. It is the upper formation of the Huangzhong Gr.

Lithology and Thickness
The Qingshipo Fm is composed of low-grade metamorphosed sandy-muddy rock series of thin-bedded silty slate sandwiched with metamorphosed siltstone, phyllite and calcareous slate. It varies from 1974 to 3000 m in thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The formation is in conformable contact onto the underlying Moshigou Fm (the lower formation of the Huangzhong Gr).
Upper contact
Disconformably overlain by the Kesur Fm (lower formation of the Huashishan Gr)
Regional extent
Eastern Qinghai-SE Gansu border region. It is distributed in the area similar to that of Moshigou Fm. It is laterally stable in lithological facies. In upstream of Chala River in Gangcha County, it consists of slightly metamorphosed silty mudstone and quartz siltstone (1911 m thick). It extends eastward to Niangniang Mt., Datong County, Laji Mt., Huangzhong County, Gantan region, Huzhu County, where it is more highly metamorphosed with thickness increased greatly, consisting of metamorphosed sandstone and phyllite.
